The Trump administration has been looking into additional bans on foreign worker which it claims is a necessary step in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The administration is said to be considering limiting the exchange visitor programs and reducing the numbers of visas for specialty (H-1B) workers. Also on the administration’s chopping block is the is the Optional Practical Training (OPT) program that allows foreign graduates from US universities to obtain employment to further their education. The administration’s efforts are meeting resistant from within the Republican party and will likely face court challenge.
